It arrived a week ago!

…. while I don’t have time to write in details about the other GREEN…..

:)

So….

I’ll mix David’s text with mine.

P: I was a little bit anxious – I don’t like any situation where I have to answer questions…. My memory could make tricks on me…. BUT it was easy-peasy!

D: The interviewer asked a number of very simple questions, was pretty
formal, and then surprised us both (I think) by simply saying “I’ve
approved your application” just when I thought he was going to start
asking the hard stuff.  easy!  I think he was a bit worried when we
said that we weren’t living together, but when we produced the
paperwork for the house.
I think that went from questionable to case closed… I think…

P: I think this was also the main reason!

Anyway, yeah, it’s totally done.  I thought there’d be little question
at this point, but actually there’s no question at all.  He took her
current visa-type stuff, and once the green card arrives that’ll be
the everything card until it expires in two years.  At that point
(already on the calendar), we have to submit a (reportedly simple)
form to extend her into “[no longer Temporary ]Permanent Resident”
status.  And that’s that.

P: So, in Jan 2010 we’ll renew it. Easy like this.

We are very happy to end one more part of this laborious process!!

Wow… This morning when we stoped by my house to drop some food I bought for my week, I said to David that I had a feeling that I would receive the work authorization today. We parked the car and there I went to check my mail box. It was empty…. When re-entering in the car to leave, the postman was there!!! I asked “Is there something for me there?” He said – just a letter. Guess what? …I should start playing the lottery…

Now I have work authorization until March 2009, and I guess it’s NOT only in my field of study in USA, so I could get any job (in case I wanted to change). Well, I think that when my Greencard arrives it will probably hold more power than this document I received today. Idk…

So, now we just have to go to the infamous couple interview – March31 – at the Immigration Office in Indianapolis. Carrying along a thick folder (actually now 3…) we’ll show them all our pictures and documents (that we accumulated during these 1.5 year) that will officially prove that our relationship is real.

If all goes right, next step is just to wait for them to change my International Student Status to the so-called Temporary Permanent Resident Status.

Wish us good luck!

So, now its confirmed! I am authorized to travel abroad while we are still in the process of getting my green card!

parole = word (in Latin)

So, David and I will be on the plane to Brazil on May30th, and we’ll be back on June17th!

We don’t have many plans about what to do in Brazil (besides visiting friends and family), but my mom is preparing a big party for the day after we arrive – June 1st, (not really) coincidentally my birthday!

So, we’ll have a huge birthday-wedding party at my Grandma’s house, when David will meet all my VIP (very important people) of my life in Sampa.

Entao…. O documento chegou!
