celebrating

One of the best things is to do what we feel like – and my biggest wish for my birthday this year was to visit my upgraded ocean (PUO) also known as Lake Michigan. :)

There was a big storm in the middle, but it was fine -David and I took a long nap in the car! We had already set up the tent, so we were set for the night. The National Park campground was surprisingly beautiful, with walk-in sites, and we were almost the only ones in the campground (sleeping on Monday eve.). Until Monday morning it was busy, of course! (Memorial Day)

We loved the hikes, the dunes and the beach – it was empty on my birthday. I did yoga, meditation and swam in the morning, alone – David dropped me off there. I could thank all my blessings, and think of my future in peace: by the water and sun rays.

Have I told you that I love life? I’m happily 36. And I’m glad you are part of my life.

These daffodils are just born! Welcome Spring!

As fotos:

Second Wedding Anniversary

Saturday arrived!  We started the day with an awesome breakfast and then went to our park. Our tradition is to go back to the Karst Farm Park on our anniversary, and repeat our ceremony – reading our vows, drinking the wine and water. (Follow the pictures for the park adventure)

We bought somethings for our house, and then went to Roots for dinner (yummy portobello linguine and polenta), then coming back home we talked with our families (or tried to) and David tuned the spinet with Pythagorean temperament. (it was very out of tune) We felt really happy with how beautifully it sounded afterward. It was pretty quick, btw.

David made popcorn (hummm), and we decided to watch Julie & Julia. But first we watched this video of Julia making omelets, since Priscilla hadn’t heard about Julia Child.

A very entertaining movie. Actually it was so striking that Pri bought Julia Child’s book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”, which will arrive this Friday. She was SUCH A CHARACTER!!! “How about dinner in 30 seconds?”

This morning Pri decided to make French omelets à la Child. You can check the photos for this part as well.

So, delicious, fun and successful celebration!

Thanksgiving was great – I like David’s family a lot! Here you have some pictures…

“Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks to God for the harvest and express gratitude to others for our many blessings. While historically religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday.” Wikipedia

Well, there we went today to try to find my earring by the tree… Click here for the first part of the story!

My brother went with us!!

David and Kiko, my dear big brother

Then, when we were very close to the base of the tree, David said – I see the branches that were in the picture! So this means that the earring should be near…. And he saw it!

The ex-lost earring and the "v" shape branch!

Well, that was a GREAT story. We are super happy!!

It is even more beautiful now!

I wanted to share with you that David bough me in Portland a gorgeous pair to substitute the original. I feel really happy with the new ones, but…

Maybe we’ ll have 2 pairs now! (if we are lucky enough…)

I was playing with one of the pictures in close up and saw the earring there, on the snow, near my footprints!

Check this out here.

So David and I will go back to the tree again as soon as the snow sublimes/melts…

I’m extremely excited about it. Let’s see if we find it for real!!

Look how our deck is now!

Meanwhile, you can see 2 delicious things we baked last week here. (what a sudden change of subject, isn’t it?)

I can’t really believe… this is such a great story…

I think that David and I are doing a great job taking very good care of our relationship…  The year was very busy and full of events… but also really full of happy and important moments. See here if you need a review of what we did together…

This Friday January 16 was our first Anniversary! Despite the earring episode, it was all great!

Well… We went back to “our”  tree in Karst Farm Park around 5pm (I got the afternoon off work because I wasn’t feeling well), and climbed it (well, I asked myself many times why I had this idea, since it’s not easy at all for me to climb a tree…) but after a lot of frustration, and even tears, I MADE it!!!

:D

David and I reviewed our vows and our ceremony (I really liked it). It was very cold, but I guess with all the exercise I did to be able to get up the tree I was feeling fine. David was colder than me this time! We went to Dunn In, a new restaurant Downtown, and we had a pretty good dinner. It was there, after we ate, that I realized that I had just one earring… Yes, somehow one of the earrings that David gave me when he proposed to me in Portland was lost at some point in the day. Where? I don’t know… anywhere from the car, or my office, the tree, to Aldi (we were near by and decided to buy some food), or the restaurant. We did come back to all these places in the morning. Zero earrings found.

:(

Well, after a period of real sadness and frustration, I stopped crying and moved on. I asked David to try to find the same earrings in the store where he bought the pair. It’s in Portland and he is leaving there to visit Sue, Michael and Verl on Thursday, so quite convenient… I am not super confident they will have the same pair, but I will be fine anyway. (I guess)

What a coincidence that this earring decided to disappear exactly in our 1 year anniversary. Well, anyway, it became a story… Click in the image to see some pictures!

I made it!

I made it!

And life goes on! (Oh, yes, I got a new beautiful pair of blue earrings  – this time bought in Bloomington – with an additional butterfly for my third hole!)

:) :)
